My Story
I am running the Great North Run for the first time on 10th September, to give back to The Hospice of The Good Shepherd, who took fantastic care of my Grandma Nelly Nicholas in January and February 2018.
The Hospice, which is not part of the NHS, receives only 20% of its income from government funding meaning it has to raise just over £5.1 million each year. That means that the Hosice needs over £7,000 every single day to keep it running.
Thanks to The Hospice of Good Shepherd the care that my Grandma received in her last couple of months was the very best. As a family we are so truly thankful to the Hospice and all the wonderful staff for the great work that they do. But without donations none of this would be possible.
Prior to signing up to the GNR the furthest I had run was 5k, so 13.1 miles is going to be a challenge. My Grandma taught me that I can do anything and was always so proud. So on the 10th September I am going to run my little legs off for her and the amazing Hospice that took incredible care of her.
Thank you
