My Story
I'm running a half marathon to raise money for MIND.
Mental health is the less seen issue in society, not easily comparable with the big C, but its there nontheless. A lot of us suffer from poor mental health more than others realise. I am now fortunate that I mostly enjoy a more resiliant state of mind. I have known a few people who have suffered enormously, but the response has not always been as accepting for them for various reasons. Sometimes the reason someone has poor mental health is the same reason that prevent them from getting help in the first place or at least puts a barrier to that help.
There are currently two people very close to me who need help, but the current state supplied resources are sorely lacking. I think this is why MIND resonates with me so much as I have struggeled in the past and I know what it is like. It is the thing one sometimes suffers with in silence, without hope or an advocate to speak for us.
What if we were all better versions of ourselves? What if there were more mental health resources available to all? What if our society treated mental health as ubiquitously as physical fitness or beauty? What if there were more of us better prepared to help others?
This is me being a voice today trying to do something.
