My Story

I'm running this years Great North Run on behalf of my heart-melting niece Aurora. Aurora suffers from a rare chromosome deficienecy called 1P36 deletion sydrome, which I had never heard of, like I would imagine most of you reading this wouldn't have either.

1P36 deletion syndrome is a rare genetic disorder caused by missing genes on chromosome 1. It affects development, causing intellectual disability, physical challenges, seizures, and other issues.

Aurora did 1 year in mainstream school and struggled massively, causing the decision to move to Epinay. Since moving there she has developed leaps and bounds.

She only truley comes out of her shell when she feels comfortable and safe and the school and staff have done an amazing job at doing just that - as she is developing into the little ray of sunshine she deserves to be in this world.

Any donation would be appreciated to help this school shape the future of local children who are less fortunate with deck of cards they're dealt to navigate life with from day 1.

I can only speak for Aurora but she is so smart, caring, bright and loving and if more children like her can develop the confidence to be themselves, the world can only end up being a nicer place for everyone.

Much Appreciated
