My Story

Anyone who knows my family will be aware that my dad was medically retired due to suffering from a rare neuron condition called Dystonia while in his 30s. It's a debilitating condition and to this day my dad still has to medicate daily in order to keep on top of it and to keep his discomfort to a minimum. At it's peak, he would be bedbound for weeks at a time, one odd memory I have is of bringing him a carton of orange juice to hospital, where he would often have lengthy stays.

To be honest I can't really remember much of my life before he started suffering with Dystonia but I do remember that he loved to run, especially as a child. In order to help support this underfunded, largely unrecognised condition I'm committed to completing the Great North Run 2023.

This past year I have gotten into running along with a few friends from work, so I wanted to set myself the target of completing the Great North Run. As someone who had never run for longer than 5 minutes until last year, this is quite a massive thing for me to be able to achieve this.

Of course times are really hard at the minute, but anything you can donate to the cause would be massively appreciated and certainly will give me a kick to make sure I keep training.
