My Story

Yikes. I'm in training for the Great North Run 2023 and I've committed to raising £500 for Mind.

Those of you who work alongside me know I am passionate about encouraging mental wellbeing in the workplace but you might not know my background.

My mum has severe and chronic schizophrenia. My Dad raised my brothers and me single handed, bur we always had contact with our mum.

When we were growing up there was so much stigma around mental illness that we never really talked about it, even at home. We saw scare stories in the press but they didn't match the profile of our mild-mannered but sometimes very distressed little mum. It was very confusing.

Charities like Mind have done so much to improve the lives of people living with mental illness. They provide support, advice and advocacy services, as well as courses to help people help others.

If you can afford to make a donation, that would be amazing. If you can like and share my page and spread the word, that would much appreciated.

And if you're worried about your own mental health, or concerned about a loved one, please remember that this brilliant charity is here to help.
