DS43 Community Defibrillators

DS43 Community Defibrillators

About us

DS43 Community Defibrillators was formed following the sudden death from a cardiac arrest of Danny Shurmer at the age of 43.

Our aim is to place public access defibrillators across the town of Hartlepool ensuring wherever posible everyone is within a 350m radius (as the crow flies) of one. We raise awareness of the importance of both CPR and defibrillators in the event of a cardiac arrest.

To date we have installed 49 defibrillators with more in the planning stage. All are registed with the Circuit ensuring they are available to our Ambulance Service to deploy in an emergency. Each defibrillator has at least two guardians. We ringfenced monies for maintenance e.g. new batteries and pads, thereby ensuring they remain sustainable for the future.

It has been via the engagment of so many of the towns indivdulas, groups and businesses that we have been able to do this work and we thank each and every one of them.

We have five runners in this years Great North Run, please support them and help us to continue our work.
