About us

Established in 2006 by Elizabeth Burton-Phillips after losing one of her twin sons to heroin, DrugFAM[1] is a UK registered charity that provides free, confidential, non-judgemental, emotional and practical support to people whose lives are in crisis due to a loved one’s harmful use of alcohol, drugs, or gambling.

It currently does this by engaging its Family Support Workers and Family Support Volunteers to deliver the following services free of charge:

·       Email helpline - www.drugfam.co.uk/contact

·       One to one telephone and video sessions

·       Weekly support group meetings

·       Bimonthly and quarterly support group meetings for bereaved

·       Annual National Bereavement Conference in October

·       Education and awareness presentations in companies, prisons, schools (to pupils, teachers and parents), colleges and other community settings.

More than 75% of DrugFAM’s staff and volunteers have lived experience of a loved one’s harmful use of alcohol, drugs, or gambling.
