The Auckland Project

About us

The Auckland Project is a regeneration charity with a difference. The historic town of Bishop Auckland has a rich and surprising history, and we believe that its culture and heritage have the power to bring about transformative change for the people who live and work here, and for those who visit.

Your donation will go directly to help The Auckland Project deliver:

  • Life-changing apprenticeships and training opportunities for young people
  • Inspiring days of learning across our sites for children and young people
  • Creative opportunities that bring the community together
  • Careful conservation of our beautiful historic sites and natural spaces.

Some of our runners have an active day-to-day role at The Auckland Project, and some work and study elsewhere but support our aims and activities. All  have chosen to spend their own time in training for the Great North Run and on fundraising to contribute to the total. We are enormously grateful for their hard work, energy and dedication!

So far The Auckland Project has invested £200m in Bishop Auckland, delivered 70+ apprenticeships, planted 1,500 native trees and hedgerow plants, and opened internationally important galleries and museums here in the North East.

Please help us as Bishop Auckland continues its journey to a bright, proud future full of opportunity.
